Privacy policy

Last updated: 26 September 2026

This policy explains what personal data ArJobs (arjobsindia.com) collects, why, and what you can do about it. For the purposes of India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 we are the Data Fiduciary for the data described here, and you are the Data Principal.

What we collect

  • Account details: your name, email address, optional mobile number, and your password, which is stored only as a one-way hash and is never readable by us.
  • Profile and resume: the career information and files you choose to add — education, experience, skills, expected salary, preferred locations, and any resume you upload.
  • Employer details: for employer accounts, the company information, logo and team members you add.
  • Activity: jobs you view, save and apply to, searches you run, and alerts you create.
  • Technical data: your IP address, browser and device information, and sign-in records, used for security and fraud prevention.
  • Payment data: for paid employer plans, the payment reference, amount and status returned to us by the payment gateway. We never receive or store your card, UPI or bank details — those go directly to the gateway.

Why we use it, and on what basis

We process your data on the basis of the consent you give when you create an account and when you apply for a job, and for the legitimate uses permitted by the Act — chiefly to provide the service you asked for and to keep it secure.

  • To run your account, show relevant jobs, and deliver your applications to employers.
  • To send the emails you ask for: verification codes, application updates, messages from employers and job alerts.
  • To keep the platform safe: detecting fraudulent listings, investigating reports and preventing abuse.
  • To meet legal and tax obligations, including issuing invoices for paid plans.

We do not use your data to make automated decisions that affect you, and we do not profile you for advertising.

Consent, and withdrawing it

You may withdraw your consent at any time. Editing or removing your profile information, turning off a notification, or deleting your account are all ways of doing so. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing already carried out, and some processing may continue where the law requires it — for example keeping invoice records.

Who can see your data

  • Employers see your application, your profile and the resume attached to it — only for jobs you apply to. They are required to use it solely to consider you for that role.
  • Your email address and mobile number are never shown publicly, and are not visible to employers you have not applied to.
  • Resumes are stored privately, outside the public part of the site. They can only be downloaded by you and by the employers you applied to.
  • Service providers who process data on our behalf: our hosting provider, our email provider and our payment gateway. They act on our instructions.
  • Authorities, where we are required to disclose by law.
  • We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for third-party marketing.

Cookies

We use cookies that are necessary for the site to work: keeping you signed in and protecting forms against cross-site request forgery. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking.

How long we keep it

  • Your account data is kept while your account is open.
  • When you ask us to delete your account, there is a 30-day grace period in which you can change your mind. After that your account is anonymised: your name and contact details are removed and your email address is replaced so it cannot identify you.
  • Every resume you uploaded is deleted at that point, including the copy attached to each application.
  • The record that an application was made remains with the employer, without your personal details, because they need a record of their own hiring.
  • Invoices and payment records are kept for as long as tax law requires.

Your rights

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you have the right to:

  • Access a summary of the data we hold about you and how it is processed. You can download a copy of your data from your account settings.
  • Correct, complete or update your data — you can edit your profile directly, at any time.
  • Erase your data, by requesting deletion of your account from your account settings.
  • Grievance redressal: raise a complaint with us, using the contact below.
  • Nominate another person to exercise these rights on your behalf in the event of your death or incapacity. Write to us to do this.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

Keeping it safe

We take reasonable security safeguards to protect your data: encrypted connections, passwords stored as hashes, resumes held on private storage reachable only through an access-checked download, sensitive settings encrypted at rest, and alerts to you when your account is signed into from a new device. No system is perfect, but if a breach occurs that affects you, we will notify you and the Data Protection Board of India as the Act requires.

Children

This service is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect the personal data of children. If you believe a child has created an account, tell us and we will remove it.

Data outside India

Your data is stored on servers in India. Where a service provider processes data outside India, we do so only to the extent permitted by the Act and the Government's restrictions on transfers.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. Where a change is significant we will tell you, and the date at the top of this page will change.
